Legal Assistant
Hyster-Yale Group, Inc., one of the world's leading forklift manufacturing companies, is looking for a dedicated, motivated, self-starting individual who will have a positive influence on a fast-paced and collegial in-house Legal team. This position will support three attorneys in the Hyster-Yale Legal Department in a wide range of project assistance, administrative, and internal communication and documentation matters, especially relating to legal support for the Asia-Pacific operations, Intellectual Property function, and the Supply Chain Department. This position is located at the Counterbalanced Development Center located in Fairview, Oregon, a suburb of Portland.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain hard copy and electronic documents and files, including contracts, correspondence, patents, and trademarks; create new project 'matters' according to departmental guidelines for filing and invoicing purposes.
Manage due diligence and background checks for Asia-Pacific dealers and track the status of Asia-Pacific dealer agreements and related contracts.
Manage document routing and signing of a variety of contracts, resolutions, and other corporate documents between and among Hyster-Yale locations.
Provide administrative support, including word processing, travel arrangements, communications, expense reporting, document signing, and other workflow management responsibilities.
Assist in administering Departmental contract management software.
Prepare Board of Director meeting materials for a small number of international subsidiaries and interact with foreign company secretaries.
Perform limited legal research and provide information to Legal Department.
Assist in preparation of departmental budget and tracking of expenses within budget guidelines on a quarterly basis.
Administer on-line system for payment of law firm invoices for Portland Legal Department projects (excluding litigation).
Update and maintain template contracts and policies applicable to Portland Legal Department processes; assist in uploading new and amended templates and policies originating in the Portland Legal Department.
Qualifications:
Microsoft Office Suite - High level of proficiency with Word, Excel, PPT, SAP, and Outlook. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Strong oral and written communication skills and analytical skills.
Able to work effectively with Company employees in multiple countries in the Asia-Pacific theater.
Prior experience with budgeting and forecasting preferred, but not essential.
College degree preferred plus 2-3 year's work experience or minimum 5 years' experience if learned by other means.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
